This small Venetian palace of the XVth century that is placed in Field Manin, close to the Bridge of Rialto, in the Big Channel of Venice, owes his relevancy to the curious spiral staircase that is located in his external front.

The above mentioned spiral staircase presents a succession of arches that get together with the arches of the galleries of his different plants. The result is an original and beautiful design, although Palazzo Contarini is surrounded by an environment of slightly attractive buildings.

The name of this palace of Venice is due to the fact that it was the family Contarini the one that entrusted his construction. And the Bovolo denomination comes for his meaning of snail.
